Allow me to introduce myself.

My name is Aitana. I'm a Product Designer who focuses on solutions through UI/UX. I help solve problems that are transformed into beautiful and meaningful tools.

I've had close to 5 years or professional experience, four of which have been in the biotech space. In that time, I've successfully:

  • Designed intuitive interfaces for genomics data visualization, analysis pipelines, and diagnostic reporting tools that serve both technical and clinical users across the research lifecycle.

  • Synthesized user insights from high-level users in scientific and research domains to inform feature development.

  • Collaborated cross-functionally with engineering teams, bioinformatic scientists, and product managers to align design solutions with business objectives, technical restraints and user requirements.

  • Contributed to design system development for scientific applications, creating reusable components that achieved 100% adoption.

  • Facilitated cross-disciplinary workshops with internal teams, promoting design thinking practices and fostering a culture of collaboration.

  • Iteratively improved scientific workflows based on user insights to optimize data analysis pipelines and improve efficiency for research and diagnostic use cases.

I graduated from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo with a B.F.A in Graphic Design. While in school, I spent four years volunteering with Cal Poly Rose Float, helping to design, build, and decorate the only student-built float in the Pasadena Rose Parade. Several of my contributions have been prominently featured on national and international television.

I'm always creating! When I'm not designing, you'll most likely find me sketching or illustrating stories of my own.
